We're Launching a Book Series!

To celebrate our one year anniversary, something BIG is happening at Bean’s Books—and it starts with a story.
Our owner, Marshall Cunningham (hi) has been quietly working on a novel for over a decade. I got the idea after being inspired by The Chronicles of Narnia in fourth grade (2012), starting writing in sixth grade (2014), finished the initial draft in 2019, then rewrote the entire book until finally completing it in a finished state this year. That's more than half of my life dedicated to creating this story. And, now, it's time I get it out of my hands and into yours.
After so long, I finally present The Bridge of Evon!
📚 About the Book:
Narnia meets Stranger Things in this debut novel about a divided world, divine war, and two brothers caught in the middle.
When Foxlaris Scottsworth is chosen to cross the newly constructed Bridge of Evon, he becomes the first to enter the forbidden East in over a thousand years—a land cut off after a divine war split the world in two. But when a violent storm destroys the bridge beneath him, he vanishes without a trace, igniting unrest across the West.
Left behind is his younger brother, Foxtamas—a fearful and overlooked fox with no desire to be a hero, despite his worship of stories and tales. Yet as rumors grow and tensions rise, Foxtamas sets out to find his brother on a desperate journey across a fractured land, joined by his friends Bunns, a wisecracking jackalope warrior, and Acirema, a sheltered raccoon princess running from the burden of leadership. Together they search for answers: not just to Foxlaris’ fate, but to the deeper story behind the Bridge itself, the ancient phoenix Roihelm who created their world, and the wolf Velrick who lies in wait in the shadow of the East.
Told with mythic scale and deeply Christian themes, The Bridge of Evon is a fantasy novel about fear, faith, and the long road to redemption. As brother turns against brother, and war threatens to consume Evon, the true question emerges: what does it take to choose trust in a land conquered by fear?

The entire saga is 356,000 words split into four books:

Introduces the world, characters, and the fateful destruction of the Bridge.
Book II: To Walk Where Mountains Sleep
Deepens the journey, explores Evon and the political intrigue within.
Book III: The War that Split the World
War escalates, faith is tested, secrets revealed.
Book IV: The Wind at Last
Climax, resolution, and the legacy left behind.
Backers can fund Books Two, Three, and Four alongside Book One to complete the story as it releases.
